Demo at The Biscuit Factory

I had a busy weekend at the Biscuit Factory for the Ouseburn Open Studio event. Artist studios in the area open the doors for everyone to have a good look around. Always very interesting.

I had a little group making tea lights and boxes and I demonstrated how to build a large slab pot to be smoke fired . This means the pot is finished to the highest possible quality, the surface is burnished before drying and coated with sigillata slip. Smoke fired ceramics have no glaze, just a smoke and bees wax jacket.

I had fun meeting all the visitors and the staff always make me feel welcome.

Pop in sometime and visit my pots.
